Dry farmed Zinfandel, Grenache, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, Carignan, Mourvedre, Negrette, Malvasia Nera, Barbera, a handful of unknown white vines maybe Palomino or a mutation of Gewurtztraminer, as well as others that we don’t know make up the blend of head trained vines. This broad mixing of vines that was done for decades in early California wine grape plantings adds nuance and detail to the finished wine as well as a structural verve that balances the inherent texture and distinct depth of fruit flavors.
