A true Whisperer favorite. If you like a classically styled wine on the palette, but looking for an interesting wine that even makes the wine nerds revel, look no further.
La Robe d'Ange Rouge, comes from the French island of Corsica, whose winemaking tradition, varietals, and techniques are more Italian-influenced. La Robe d'Ange is made from Corsican native varietal, Sciaccarello, which creates a lively and lithe red wine that frames rich notes of juicy cherries, pomegranate, dried cranberries, violets, and gravel stones.
Owner Josée Vanucci and her husband, Fabrice Couloumère, organically farm 18 ha of classic Corsican grape varietals in the deep, rocky alluvial soils of the Bravone River, with vine age ranging between 25-35 years old. The neighboring Castagniccia mountain range provides plenty of cooling night air, which combined with the moderating influence of the sea, create a unique cooler microclimate, resulting in wines with distinctive freshness and aromatics.
Made with organic grapes and minimal intervention.
