Brother and sister team Kim and Trent Jackson collaborated with their vintner father and business partner to create the winery in 1996. Their aim to toe the line between old-school Napa, detailed winemaking, and modern new-generation California innovation took form when they became a small family-owned winery and hired titan vintner Kirk Venge.
A native of Rutherford, Kirk Venge has a lauded resume that includes interning at Mumm, taking the torch from his father in their Venge family winery, and making wine for Hunnicutt, Trespass, Mirror, and Jax. We have always been huge fans of Kirk's winemaking and these wines perfectly exhibit small-scale production with a profound sense of place.
From a coveted single block in Calistoga, the Block 3 Cab comes from a unique red rock alluvial fan at the base of Mt. Saint Helena. A limited 7 barrel production highlights the best fruit from Jax family vineyards. Past the elegant packaging, you will find opulent dark fruits, mocha, toasted oak, mushroomy umami, and chewy tannins.
