the aroma of this wine is loaded with classic Zinfandel fruit; boysenberry, black raspberry, and olallieberry. The focus is on succulent ripe fruit. There is no suggestion of stewed fruit, raisins, prunes, or other late harvest nonsense. Aging in small oak barrels for almost a year has provided this wine with a bouquet of hazelnut, sandalwood, and almond paste. Upon pouring, the bouquet takes a ‘backseat’ to the aroma, but with time in the glass it becomes more evident. On the palate succulent flavors of creamy ripe red raspberries, and caramel are accompanied by toasty oak and are delivered by wine with a lusciously soft texture. The finish, while satisfying, is not so satiating that you won’t want another glass.
