Winemaker Notes:
"Enticing notes of wild currant, violets and wet sagebrush on the nose. On the palate, firm tannins with notes of white pepper and dark black fruit. A rustic interpretation of Pinot that can be enjoyed with food or without."
Pairing: Pinot Meunier, being so closely related to Pinot Noir, will pair with similar things. Pork, roast duck, mushrooms or grilled vegetables would all play well.
This wine is soft and velvety. Highly perfumed with crushed rose petals, the palate has notes of cherry, juicy strawberry and pomegranate. There is a hint of tobacco and graphite, with a pretty note of rosemary needles on the long and generous finish.
Samantha Sheehan founded POE in 2009 after being inspired by the wines she tasted in Burgundy and Champagne. The goal is not to replicate Burgundy, but rather create alluring, vineyard specific, age-worthy wines revealing the beautiful terroir of California. There is minimal intervention, judicious use of sulfur, and never any additives.
POE produces traditional Champagne method sparkling wines, rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a nouveau from Pinot Noir. Each wine is made in very limited quantities, and sold directly from the winery and to high-end restaurants around the country.
Varietal: Pinot Meunier
